A Different Time

Over the months that have past and I’ve been away from the keyboard I have changed. Inside me is a different time, one where there is no rush or hurry. I have learnt to go to this place deep within to find solace and solitude in the silence of my soul. Here, I find peace when the madness of the world and demands of life threaten to squeeze me into it’s mould and time frame.

Do you feel the desire to pull away from worldly time that is ceaseless in it’s driving us to despair with lists and deadlines, appointments and commitments?

Come away… “come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come , buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost.” Isaiah 55:1 NIV

Isaiah’s words still resonate in us as we read them, and Jesus calls us to Himself,

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28

Rest for the weary traveller on life’s path, for the journey is arduous and trials beseige any self-effort we might employ. Having had quite enough, the Prophet Elijah needed the sustenance of the kind only the LORD can provide, not just once but twice before he was able to set out again (1 Kings19:7).

We are no different and like Elijah we can receive all we need from Him. We may enter into the storm of what feels like wind, earthquake, and fire but there will come a gentle whisper.Image result for gentle whisper

So let us be eager to enter a different time, where pressure to perform drops away and we regain our sense of identity and purpose. Let Him recalibrate us with heaven’s song.

So, dear LORD and Father we come, burdened though we are yet choosing to enter a different time. Thank you that you care and are gentle with us, when we are so hard on ourselves. May we step aside for awhile with you, hear you whisper our name and show us your perspective on the path we tred through the world you lovingly created. Renew us and stengthen us with love and peace, for Jesus sake, Amen.
