Do you remember as a small child having your height marked on the door frame at home or similar? Even though we eventually get to our final physical height of growth, perhaps we never stop trying to make that mark that states we are of significance; we are making our mark in life, society and within the circle of influence in which we sit.
We can get caught up in comparing ourselves and our achievements to others, and strive to be the best. Now there is nothing essentially wrong in this, if we have a solid secure basis of our true identity and know the loving acceptance of who we are. The danger is if we seek this in striving to find meaning through our choice of occupation or educational successes. It is easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of internal thoughts that ask us constantly, do we measure up? Can we make the cut and find praise by our peers, siblings and most crucially our parents. The roots of a perfectionist streak may lay in the depths of how we feel about who we are and if we fit in with others; it is easy to get out of focus with looking at the wrong end of the stick, so as to speak!
If you have climbed the ladder to success and find that there is nothing there or worse it has not fulfilled you then please read on.
There is an answer to the issue and it is much easier solved than you may imagine it to be. We all are birthed into potential insecurity and danger; we all crave that need for nurture and loving acceptance for who we are. If life has short changed you into believing that you are not good enough and that whatever you do, you will never hit the grade or that there must be more to life then I urge you to take a look at what God says about you.
If at the mere mention of the word ‘God’ or anything remotely ‘religious’ you have suddenly recoiled or are about to switch off, I would ask you to think again. God has been so misrepresented that He has been seen as to be feared as an even harder task master than the cruelest parent, or a tyrant who will force you into submission and take all the ‘fun’ out of your life. Nothing could be further than the truth. In this life, you can have and possess all manner of possessions and materialistically have it all, yet it is never enough is it. Something, or perhaps to phrase it better, someone is missing from your life. Not a husband or wife, children or friends, though.
By being open to change in your life and what is important to you; by looking and investigating a little, you will begin to see that God … loves you. Here is what you need but have somehow exchanged this truth in believing that you are not loveable. The revelation of God’s love is a long historical story of how far He has, and will go to get you back, for He created and intended you to live in this life knowing you are loved, accepted and significant by him.
If you do not think that what your life has amounted to or what you have done in life excludes you, then once more hear that there is nothing that you have said, done or thought that God is not aware of and He still loves you.
1 John 4:8
He is a relational God, who desires to care and love you, He is likened to the most amazingly, compassionate and benevolent Father you can imagine. He is not cold or remote, he will not hurt you or bring harm to you, and there is no punishment for not measuring up. That standard is of your own experience or thinking and becomes no longer necessary when you know that you are wanted. If no one ever told you as a little child that you were wanted, loved and cherished, if no one ever held you and affirmed you as special then here is a Father who will, who longs to do so.
Perhaps you have never known this is possible, so caught up in control of your life that you have not had time to consider this or all that pain, distress, and hurt have frozen your heart to protect yourself because life is cruel and hard and you have built up a wall to protect yourself. God can come in the softest whisper to your heart and melt all that away by the warmth of his love. No loving Father would cause such distress or be hard to find. He will tend to your pain and past wounds and heal you.God has given to all (those who know or do not know him) this beautiful world, with all its glory and wonder in creation. Also, He has given his story to tell of who he is. His word is contained within the Bible. It is a collection of 66 books with mixed genres yet which are extraordinarily cohesive and flow as one meta-narrative, telling us the history of all his people and how far he would go to have and include you
God has given to all (those who know or do not know him) this beautiful world, with all its glory and wonder in creation. Also, He has given his story to tell of who he is. His word is contained within the Bible. It is a collection of 66 books with mixed genres yet which are extraordinarily cohesive and flow as one meta-narrative, telling us the history of all his people and how far he would go to have and include you as his loved child. There is room for all who will look for him; he turns no one away, no one.
If all that you have achieved or strived to attain, if all you have acquired has left you feeling hollow and abandoned, lost and lonely, disappointed by others who have drained you dry and kicked you down and out, then here is the only answer humanity has to fill that gaping, deep and dark void in your heart and soul.
Filling the Empty Void
Like a parent who is sick with concern and longing for the return of their child who had wandered off alone, into the far country to ‘go it alone’ he watches; waits and he yearns with love to see you turn around. In doing so you will catch him on the horizon of your mind, now is the time to ask him to bring you back to safety and home and he will come running, to sweep you up and hug you. Once reunited he will never let you go or never leave you or forsake you. He promises this and he never negates on his promises.
This is no airy fairy construct of words; no trap; no lie to trick you. Just the plain facts that have perhaps not been told you, for there are many others who have accepted this amazing love and found it to be true. They can tell you how they found this love that has given them hope in the darkness and peace in their hearts. These found ones are not just a few, but myriads and thousands of people throughout past history and today who can tell the truth of this being so. God is still the same and his love never changes.
Why would you want to live a life less than this? Would you suffer in silence than consider this offer that you are thirsting for, hungry for? The love, acceptance, and purpose for your life can be found within a loving relationship with God the Father, through Jesus His Son and the presence and power of the indwelling Holy Spirit. Find out others who will understand and support you in your spiritual journey because no one should walk alone but in company together; God puts us in families for a reason. There are churches that will guide you and teach you more. You have nothing to lose but everything to gain in taking this step to explore more. If you feel that you want to find your way home to Father God’s love for you then this short prayer will be heard and he will answer you. God bless you as you make this decision.
I need your love and ask you to be real in my life.
Please help me to walk with you,
